Articles are listed in alphabetical order by state, so you can easily scan through the articles for those within your state or other states in which you have an interest. This week - more articles than usual. I have a few comments as well! I know, big surprise. Here goes: SEXUAL ASSAULT: 6, 20, 23, 24, 36, 37, 44, 46, 68, 73, 74, 83 155, 161 PHYSICAL ASSAULT: 15, 21, 24, 40, 45, 57, 69, 78, 79, 80 FINANCIAL ABUSE/MISMANAGEMENT: 51, 85 NEGLECT: 18, 19, 26, 35 MURDER: 63 BUREAUCRATIC MESSES: 4, 5, 10, 35, 39, 40, 41, 51, 66, 76, 85, 89, 171 CHILDREN WHO WANDERED AWAY AND DIED: 38, 55, 64, 65 NEW INFORMATION: 125, 139 GOOD NEWS: 174
I also found my self categorizing these by age of perpetrator, relationship of perpetrator to victim and location of the abuse. Sexual Assault: Perp Age Range 21 - 66; location: victim’s home, perp’s home, on school bus, at victim’s work site Physical Assault: Perp Age Range 29-62; location: hospital, school, at home, at a bar!
Then something so weird. Two of the physical assault perpetrators blamed their actions on “anger issues” they have. Really? They are not responsible, I guess, it is the anger issue that made them do it. Don’t you think they should have seen a therapist? One rapist said that he was “trying to improve the woman hiding within her.” He is facing a possible sentence of 25 years. I hope.
Item #125 discusses drowning as the #1 cause of death among people with autism. Item #139 describes new statistics from CDC on prevalence of disability. Item #174 Judy Heumann discusses history and impact of ADA on the 25th year of this law. Item #10 describes a lawsuit filed by the ACLU to get people with disabilities out of jails and into hospitals as ordered by courts within the timeline. Some are languishing in jails for up to eight and nine months. Please read #37 for an example of how this teacher groomed his victim and the victim’s mother to allow the sexual assault. And, yes, good news, MN now has 24-hour phone and online abuse reporting throughout the state. Abuse/Crime-related
